ASHOKA – Social Entrepreneusrship in Italy

flier Ashoka Italy in DC

Dear Italians and Friends,
We are delighted to invite you to an evening event on social innovation that will take place at the Italian Embassy in DC on December 7, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Ashoka, the largest network of social entrepreneurs in the world, whose headquarters are in DC, will celebrate the recent launch of Ashoka Italia, now operating from both Rome and Milan. For this occasion, two social entrepreneurs selected by Ashoka will present their work and vision of change.

Vincenzo Linarello
Vincenzo comes from Gioiosa Ionica, Calabria. Since 1996, he has been actively engaged against the negative influence of the N’drangheta (the local mafia) on his land, and was determined to promote growth for the local economy. Goel is a consortium of 15 social enterprises and 28 businesses which has come together to create a ‘democratic holding for change’ under Vincenzo’s leadership, with the ultimate goal of stifling the Ndrangheta’s influence on the economy.

Riccarda Zezza
Riccarda believes that work-life balance should radically be redefined, so parents stop seeing their time off work spent with their children in conflict with their careers. To reach this objective, she works with employers, particularly in the corporate world, helping them stop seeing maternity leave and parental care as a burden, but as a time for developing key skills that are useful for personal as well as professional development. Riccarda refers to this concept as MaaM, Maternity as a Master(s).

The event will be a chance to get to know these social entrepreneurs, who are looking to expand their work in the US. It will also be a chance for the Italian-American and the Italian community in DC to get to know many players in the field of social entrepreneurship and changemaking in Italy and America.

Please confirm your presence here and feel free to extend the invitation to those who may be interested. For any question or query, please write to YeSeul Kim, ykim@ashoka.org

We look forward to seeing you there!
